What a natal chart is and how to start reading yours

Equipe AstroQo · November 1, 2026 · 1 min read

A natal chart is a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment of your birth, seen from the place you were born. It shows where the Sun, Moon and planets were across the twelve signs — and how they fall into the twelve houses.

The big three: Sun, Moon and rising sign

  • Sun — the core of your identity and what you are learning to express.
  • Moon — your emotions, needs and what makes you feel safe.
  • Rising sign (ascendant) — the sign rising on the eastern horizon at that moment. It describes how you meet the world and sets the houses.

Why your birth time matters

The rising sign changes roughly every two hours, and the houses rotate with it. Without a birth time we can still place the planets in signs — but not the rising sign or the houses.

The houses

Each house is an area of life: the 1st is you, the 7th is relationships, the 10th is career and reputation. A planet in a house shows where that energy is most visible.

Aspects: how planets talk

When two planets form certain angles — 0°, 60°, 90°, 120° or 180° — they are in aspect. Trines and sextiles tend to flow; squares and oppositions ask for adjustment and create movement.

How AstroQo calculates it

We use astronomical ephemerides to compute each planet's real position for your birth time and place, with Placidus houses. Your daily horoscope compares today's sky with that chart.
